Never Ready

“If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.”- Woody Allen

My mother passed away five years ago today. At just 56 years old, she was robbed of her future.

I wasn’t ready for her to go.

But today I’m reminded that we are creatures of survival, that healing is in every fiber of our being. And although I’m still not ready to live the rest of my life without her, our mind and our body doesn’t wait for us to be ready; it doesn’t ask for our permission. And without trying, it gets a little easier with each passing day, week, month and year .

Blanche Batnick was a goer and a doer.  She taught me everything I know and perhaps the most important lesson came with her passing- that every day is precious and nobody is promised a long life.

And with this knowledge- I did exactly what I know she’d want me to do, I got busy living.
