How One of the Biggest Names on Wall Street Got His Start
One of the best things you can do to get ahead in life is find somebody who wants to help you win.
I’m thinking about this because Jeremy Schwartz and his mentor, Professor Siegel, were on The Compound & Friends this week.
Most of you know who Siegel is, but for those who don’t, here’s a little bit about the legend on Wall Street. Dr. Siegel is a trained economist who studied under Franco Modigliani and Paul Samuelson at MIT. He’s spent most of his career as a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and is a Senior Investment Strategy Advisor at WisdomTree, which manages more than $100 billion. Professor Siegel wrote one of the best books in investment management, Stocks for the Long Run, first published thirty years ago.
The other Jeremy is no slouch, either.
Jeremy was WisdomTree's fourth employee. He got the job through an early investor who recommended him. That person was, you guessed it, Professor Siegel.
Jeremy Schwartz joined WisdomTree in 2005 as a senior analyst. He then rose through the ranks, becoming Deputy Director of Research in 2007 and, from 2008 through 2018, was the Director of Research. Jeremy is currently the Global Chief Investment Officer and their second longest-tenured employee. Not too bad.
Being in the room with these two GOATs, you could tell what a special relationship they have. Seeing the love they have for one another is one of my favorite experiences in that studio.
Jeremy tells the full story of how they found one another in this week’s episode. I know you’ll love listening to it as much as we loved recording it.
Have a great weekend!
